Empty nesters upsize to a dream home at The Reserve at Sunset Views in Lily Lake

07/12/07 - Now that their three children have taken wing and “flown the coop,” you’d think empty nesters Darrell and Diane Hamer would prefer to downsize their next home. Instead, the active couple nearly doubled their square footage and built the home of their dreams, filled with all the lush amenities and extras they’d longed for, at The Reserve at Sunset Views in Lily Lake—an AMG Homes’ community of 42 custom single-family residences.

The Hamers, who recently moved from Bolingbrook, are entertainers who love to host parties and dinners for their families and friends. Diane is an avid cook who wanted to have a contemporary and modern dream kitchen. Darrell, on the other hand, desired more outdoor space that allows him to unwind from his busy work schedule, as well as more land to continue his love of organic vegetable gardening.

When they discovered The Reserve at Sunset Views during their new home search, they were wowed by the generously sized homesites, the use of open space in the community, the handsome and inclusive home designs, and the ample amenities that came standard with their home. They were also impressed with the builder’s craftsmanship and the excellent customer service they received.

“We practically visited every new construction community in the western suburbs looking for the perfect new home and community,“ said Diane. “When we stumbled upon The Reserve, we knew right away this was the best location, right down to the homesite. We love that our property spans more than an acre of land and offers a huge backyard for our grandchildren to roam around in.”

The Hamers are no strangers to house hunting and moving, having relocated six times from the East Coast and within Illinois. However, this is their first time building a new home. With all their children graduated from college, it was finally their time to claim that ideal abode—one that truly reflected their lifestyle, interests and hobbies. They found the perfect combination of style and amenities in the Sycamore II design, which features four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, three-car garage and 3,489 square feet.

With her yen for culinary creations, Diane opted for a gourmet kitchen equipped with a butler’s pantry, wine refrigerator and extra storage for all her “specialty kitchen tools and gadgets.”

“A butler’s pantry was a pre-requisite for me,” Diane said. “While preparing dinner, the mess can be out of sight while my guests are in the dining room. Plus, the butler’s pantry acts as a bar. All this space is great as we are planning to host a number of festivities to celebrate our daughter’s upcoming wedding.”

One of their favorite areas in their new home is the four season sunroom. It provides breathtaking views of both the sunrise and sunset as it overlooks a pond to the south.

“This community is called ‘The Reserve’ for a real good reason,” said Darrell, an insurance consultant for one of the Big Four accounting firms. “The sunsets are beautiful since this area sits on higher ground than the general terrain. There’s a lot of horizon to see and it’s absolutely spectacular. With all the wide-open spaces, we were amazed at how much sky is out here.”

Darrell is also looking forward to fishing in the nearby ponds in the community, and teaching the neighborhood children how to reel ’em in.

The Hamers prefer The Reserve at Sunset Views because they don’t feel like all the homes are “on top of each other. We don’t have to wait for 5,000 cars to make a right turn out of the neighborhood to get to work on time,” said Diane.

“We have the best of both worlds,” Darrell said. “We’re away from the crowds and congestion and now live in a calm, quiet, serene neighborhood. But, we have access to all the conveniences of shopping and entertainment, and the new Metra train station in Elburn gets me to work downtown.”

Even though the move increased Darrell’s commute time, “it is definitely worth it,” he added. “AMG really knows what it’s doing. From the minute we walked into the sales office, there was a genuine and positive attitude from the staff. From sales to construction, everyone was helpful and a joy to deal with. I was instantly impressed with the craftsmanship, quality of work and value. We have already urged our good friends to move here.”

According to Jennifer Lawrence, sales associate at The Reserve at Sunset Views, the extension of the Metra train line into Elburn is creating interest among homebuyers. Already, more than half of the homesites have been sold.

“The Hamers are a perfect example of the trend we’re seeing of homebuyers moving further west,” said Lawrence. “From families with young children to empty nesters, shoppers are coming to our community because of the quality and value in our homes. I don’t know of any other community in the area that offers as much home for the money as we do.”

Consider the considerable evidence: Each Reserve at Sunset Views residence boasts three to five bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half baths, a sideload three-car garage, full basement, and Great Room or family room. Add in at no extra charge a masonry fireplace, hardwood floors, Whirlpool tub in the master bath, tray ceilings, nine-foot first-floor ceilings, and a gourmet kitchen with designer countertops and high-end cabinetry. Plus, almost all of the homesites can accommodate English basements, and many back up to attractive ponds or scenic open space.

The Reserve at Sunset Views is AMG Homes’ newest community. Buyers can select from several flexible designs, each available in three different elevations, or you can bring in your own outside floorplan and AMG Homes can customize it to your desire. Base prices range from $495,000 to the mid $500,000s (all prices subject to change without notice). Home sizes range from 2,589 to 3,712 square feet, and every homesite is a minimum of one-and-a-third acre.

Nearby amenities include St. Charles shopping, the Elburn Metra train station within a five-minute drive, highly acclaimed Burlington district 301 schools, and Lily Lake Elementary School. In addition, a new Jewel-Osco on the corner of Route 38 and Route 47 is under construction.

Located just a quarter-mile east of Rt. 47 on Empire Road, The Reserve at Sunset Views in Lily Lake is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To reach the community, take Randall Road to North Avenue; head west to Rt. 47; go north one-quarter mile to Empire Road; head east approximately one-quarter mile to Sunset Views Drive; turn left and proceed to the model located at 5N801 Sunset Views Dr. For more information, call (630) 365-0940.

Sales underway at West Wind Estates in Minooka. Two fully furnished models now open for touring at new AMG Homes community

07/12/07 - The winds of change are blowing shoppers westward—where they can claim an unbeatable deal on a new home at West Wind Estates, AMG Homes’ newest community of single-family residences in Minooka.

Set on an attractive parcel that’s conveniently located just south of I-80 and west of Bell Road, Westwind Estates recently launched preconstruction sales and opened two fully furnished models, including The Winrock III, which showcases the wide range of standard inclusions bundled into every AMG home.

“Other builders offer ‘upgrades,’ but we build them into every West Wind Estates residence—at no additional charge—and these standard amenities can be found throughout our Winrock III model,” said Colleen O’Connor, sales associate for AMG Homes. “Visitors who tour this model are going to appreciate the tremendous value bundled in, as evidenced by things like the home’s full basement, decorative brick front, and concrete driveway—all of which are included in the base price on every design we offer.”

O’Connor noted that The Winrock III model is festooned in traditional décor and furnishings and embellished with deep red hues and rich colors throughout the open layout. Among the extra touches added to the model are a custom oak staircase, as well as a “floating” den above the high-ceilinged basement that creates extra space for a colorful playroom in between.

“Buyers are going to get so much for their dollar here in Minooka,” O’Connor said. “A large portion of our homes are designed to appeal to active couples and busy families that desire ample, comfortable living space and a preferred location that’s close to shopping, quality schools and other neighborhood amenities. West Wind Estates has it all—and then some.”

What’s more, said O’Connor, “we’ve built a fantastic reputation as a reputable semi-custom builder. That means our customers have the advantage of modifying any of our standard designs to match their preferences. So if you want to do things like move the walls, add extra windows or extend the garage to the back of the house, we can accommodate almost any request.”

Best of all, “you can capitalize on low preconstruction pricing in effect for a limited time here, which equates to saving thousands on a brand new, semi-custom residence,” she said.

Shoppers can choose from a total of 20 distinctive floorplans at West Wind Estates, including five ranch designs. Every home features three to four bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half baths, full basement, formal dining room, vaulted, trey or nine-foot first-floor ceilings, large kitchen with oak cabinets and brand-name appliances, a family room or great room, and a decorative brick front exterior. Depending on the plan, other standard amenities include a living room, sunroom, den, dinette, and tray or vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom, as well as dual-zoned heating and air conditioning. Preconstruction prices range from the upper $200,000s to the low $400,000s (all prices subject to change without notice), and square footages span 1,760 to 2,900 for ranches and 2,400 to 3,700 for two-story homes.

Additionally, every homesite is a quarter to a half an acre in size, and many are in preferred cul-de-sac locations.

Buyers yearning to claim a pre-built home available for immediate delivery can select the Timberland II model, located at 505 E. Hunter Ln. This inventory residence boasts four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, a full nine-foot basement with roughed-in plumbing, expansive custom kitchen with maple cabinetry and a walk-in pantry, and a wood-burning fireplace. Other highlights include granite countertops and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, hardwood flooring in the foyer, kitchen, breakfast room and powder room, upgraded low E/argon gas windows—including two bay windows—a full masonry front exterior with a stone foyer and more. The Timberland II is priced at $373,900 and offers 2,600 square feet.

West Wind Estates homeowners will enjoy a variety of community perks, including handsome tree-lined streets, four ponds, a four-and-a-half-acre on-site park and a nature trail/bike bath that wanders through the property. The community is located within acclaimed Minooka Consolidated School District # 201, and diversity of family restaurants and retailers—such as Jewel, Walgreen’s and Ace Hardware—are within a five-minute drive.

West Wind Estates is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To reach the community, take 55 South to I-80 West, exiting at the Minooka exit; turn south on Ridge Rd.; go to McEvilly and turn east; head to Bell Rd. and turn south to West Wind Estates (model on the right). Homes brimming with bountiful amenities at The Reserve at Sunset Views in Lily Lake.Minooka IL Homes

03/30/05 - The way Arlene Kazminski sees it, many builders try to cram “10 pounds of stuff into a five-pound bag.”

But at The Reserve at Sunset Views—AMG Homes’ new community of 42 custom single-family homes in Lily Lake—the comparison is more like fitting “20 pounds of only the best stuff into a 20-pound bag,” according to Kazminski, sales manager for Yorkville-based AMG Homes. Which means there’s plenty of room for all the amenities and extras that come standard with every thoughtfully equipped AMG residence.

“I don’t know of any other community in this area that offers as much home for the money as we do,” Kazminski said. “Many builders say they include a lot of features in their homes, but we don’t just talk the talk—we walk the walk and prove it in every home we build.”

Consider the considerable evidence: For starters, each Reserve at Sunset Views residence boasts three to five bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half baths, a sideload three-car garage, full basement, and Great Room or family room. Add in at no extra charge a masonry fireplace, hardwood floors, Whirlpool tub in the master bath, tray ceilings, nine-foot first-floor ceilings, and a gourmet kitchen with designer countertops and high-end cabinetry. And top that off with a complimentary landscaping allowance valued at $5,000.

That’s a pretty impressive package—made all the more impressive by the sheer size of it all, literally. Home sizes range from 2,589 to 3,712 square feet, and every homesite is a minimum of one-and-a-third acre, according to Kazminski.

“These are among the largest new home lots available in the area,” she said. “Nearby homes for sale offer lots that are typically only a quarter or a half an acre large at most. Plus, more than half of our homesites can accommodate English basements, and many back up to attractive ponds or scenic open space.”

When comparing homes at The Reserve at Sunset Views to other new residences in the area, “we usually beat the competition in practically every category—including price, size, preferred location, and standard amenities. But it’s often the little, easily overlooked details that win over the buyer, inclusions like a full masonry fireplace with an oak mantel and custom detailed ceilings in the dining room and master bedroom.”

Collectively, these features represent “an outstanding new home value that is only enhanced by the fact that any of our distinctive ranch and two-story designs can be customized to suit any buyer’s preferences. AMG Homes will also work closely with homebuyers to craft a completely unique home custom built from scratch.”

Buyers can select from a variety of floorplans, each available in three different elevations. Base prices start at $505,900 (all prices subject to change without notice).

Nearby amenities include St. Charles shopping, the soon-to-be-completed Elburn Metra train station within a five-minute drive, highly acclaimed Burlington district 301 schools, and Lily Lake Elementary School.

Visitors can tour a new fully furnished and decorated model that recently debuted at The Reserve at Sunset Views. Construction is expected to begin in a few weeks, and first move-ins are anticipated by late summer.

Located just a half mile east of Rt. (second home on the right). AMG Homes Launches Sales at Prarie Meadows in Yorkville. Home Sites Offer at least 12,000 square feet.

03/25/05 - Sales are now underway at Prairie Meadows, a community of 164 semi-custom single-family homes in Yorkville by AMG Homes. Minooka Homes

Similar to its other Yorkville community, Kylyn’s Ridge—which is now in closeout mode—AMG Homes offers a diverse range of designs from which to choose at Prairie Meadows and the ability to personalize each residence. Moreover, each Prairie Meadows homesite is a minimum of 12,000 square feet, with over 50 percent of the homesites ranging from 14,000 to 22,300 square feet.

“Buyers can select from 20 different floorplans at Prairie Meadows, as well as a plethora of upgrades and options to make each home even more unique,” said AMG Homes sales manager Kim Pace. “What’s more, we can customize the residence to match your tastes and preferences. We’re flexible enough to accommodate most requests, such as a wall you’d like us to move or extra windows you’d like us to add.”

Located a quarter-mile east of Rt. 47 on Kennedy Road on the near north side of Yorkville, Prairie Meadows is set in the town’s most preferred location—just five minutes from Blackberry Oaks golf course and seven minutes from highly acclaimed Yorkville schools, including Yorkville High in District #115. Other area amenities within a five-minute drive include a local YMCA with a pool, a new Jewel supermarket, a Menards home improvement center, and several shops, banking facilities and restaurants.

Perhaps the biggest draw for buyers that has become an AMG trademark is the generous mix of amenities included in every home: features that other builders only offer as options and upgrades. For example, full basements, central air conditioning and two-story family rooms or vaulted ceilings come standard.

“It’s no surprise why our communities sell so quickly right from the start when you take into account how much you’re getting for your money in an AMG home,” added Pace. “This exceptional tandem of standard inclusions, ideal setting and affordability is pretty tough to beat.”

Buyers can choose from ranch and two-story home styles, available in two to six elevations. Each home offers three to four bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half baths, two-car garage (three-car and side-load garage optional), a full basement, central air, tray or vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom (per plan), Quality oak kitchen cabinets, name-brand appliances and more. Home sizes vary from 1,725 to 3,100 square feet, and base prices start in the $240,000s (all prices subject to change without notice).

Construction has begun at Prairie Meadows, with new models expected to open by mid-April 2005 and first occupancies anticipated by the end of May 2005.

Sales for Prairie Meadows are being conducted at Kylyn’s Ridge. To reach the Kylyn’s Ridge sales center, take I-88 west to Rt. 47; head south and turn west on Cannonball Trail; proceed a quarter mile and turn right on Faxon Road to the model on the left. Kylyn’s Ridge is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call (630) 553-1961.

Kylyn's Ridge semi-custom homes selling fast in Yorkville.

05/25/04 - The final 50 represent a golden but limited opportunity at Kylyn's Ridge, AMG Homes' community of 134 semi-custom residences in Yorkville-where only 50 homesites remain in the second and final phase.

"Homes in Phase I of Kylyn's Ridge sold with amazing speed, and Phase II sales are very brisk," said Jennifer Lawrence, sales representative for AMG Homes. "Our buyer feedback tells us that our ability and willingness to customize each home was a major factor in many of these customers'
decisions."

The phrase 'semi-custom home' can be confusing to some homebuyers, added Lawrence.

"Actually, it's very simple-it means that the homebuyer gets to choose a home design and then reshape it to suit their particular tastes and lifestyle," she said.

With 23 diverse designs to choose from at Kylyn's Ridge, most buyers will probably find enough variety to match their preferences.

"But AMG Homes knows that many customers like to put their own personal stamp on their home," added Kim Pace, sales manager for AMG Homes. "So, from moving walls and windows to choosing designer tile and appliances, buyers have the ability to personalize their residences and give them that distinctive look."

For example, a few buyers have closed off their second-story foyer to create a laundry room or office. For one buyer, AMG Homes moved a closet to create wall space to fit her prized china cabinet. One family turned their three-car garage into a four-car tandem garage.

Another reason sales have been swift at Kylyn's Ridge is that many of the buyers know a bargain when they see it and are savvy enough to invest in an up-and-coming community, according to Lawrence.

"Yorkville is the next 'big' area, and people want to get in on the ground floor of this booming community," said Lawrence. "It pays to buy an affordable home in Yorkville now so you can sit back and watch property values skyrocket as the community grows, just like Naperville and Plainfield residents did in recent years."

Good schools, friendly neighbors, community festivals and a local YMCA with activities and a pool are just a few of Yorkville's family-friendly assets. Family-friendly businesses such as Jewel and Panera Bread also
have new built stores and restaurants in the area.

With the smallest home lot at 12,000 square feet, each Kylyn's Ridge home offers plenty of outdoor space for children to play and entertaining guests. In addition, the community boasts two ponds and three parks, one of which is equipped with a baseball backstop and soccer nets.

According to Lawrence, many of Kylyn's Ridge buyers live and work in and around the I-88 and I-55 corridors.

"They're anxious to leave the congestion and high prices of those suburbs behind as well as enjoy a short commute to their jobs," Lawrence said.

Kylyn's Ridge buyers can select from ranch and two-story home styles, available in two to five elevations. Each home offers three to four bedrooms, one-and-a-half to three-and-a-half baths, two-car garage (three-car garage optional), a full basement, central air, tray or vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom (per plan), AristoKraft oak kitchen cabinets, Whirlpool appliances. Home sizes range from 1,700 to 3,100 square feet and base prices range from $212,900 to $288,900 (all prices subject to change without notice).

Kylyn's Ridge is located on the north side of Yorkville, approximately seven miles south of I-88. To reach the community, take I-88 west to Rt. 47; head south and turn west on Cannonball Trail; proceed a quarter mile and turn right on Faxon Road to the model on the left. Kylyn's Ridge is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call

AMG Homes grand opens furnished model at Kylyn's Ridge in Yorkville.

Minooka Home Builder12/02/03 - A new, fully furnished model recently debuted at Kylyn's Ridge, a community of 134 semi-custom homes in Yorkville developed by AMG Homes, Inc.

The model, a two-story Timberland II, features four bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, a two-story foyer, nine-foot ceilings, full basement, den with French doors, oversized kitchen with pantry, first-floor laundry room, mud room and approximately 2,600 square feet.

"The Timberland II is a very open, spacious floor plan, as demonstrated by the kitchen and dinette area that connects to the family room, which is topped off with an attractive vaulted ceiling," said AMG Homes sales associate Jennifer Lawrence. "It's become one of our most popular home styles, thanks in no small part to its spatially efficient design."

AMG Homes sales manager Kim Pace added that the new model "showcases the wide variety of appointments that come standard in all AMG homes - amenities for which other builders typically charge extra. The Timberland II gives visitors a visual reference point for all they get for their money at Kylyn's Ridge."

Twenty-three homes have already sold since sales began in August at Kylyn's Ridge, which is now half sold in Phase I. First move-ins are now underway. Phase II sales are expected to begin by early 2004.

"The demand at Kylyn's Ridge has been so strong that we haven't had time to build any inventory homes, as we've done at other AMG communities,"
said Chad Gunderson, co-owner of Yorkville-based AMG Homes.

Chad, along with brother/co-owner Dirk Gunderson, added that he particularly enjoys building in Yorkville, having grown up in a small town just down the road from the now-burgeoning western suburb. AMG Homes is currently the largest home builder in Yorkville.

"Our buyers are smart, and they know a good product when they see it,"
said Chad Gunderson, who added that AMG Homes sells an impressive number of homes to realtors, contractors and other industry professionals.
"They compare our top-notch workmanship and floor plans to new homes in other communities and appreciate the extra value built into our residences - things like full basements, central air conditioning and two-story family rooms or vaulted ceilings that are included in the base prices."

What's more, said Dirk Gunderson, AMG Homes will customize any home to suit a buyer's tastes and preferences.

"Combine the fact that we offer 19 semi-custom designs, each available in different elevations, with the flexibility buyers have to personalize their homes and it's easy to see why Kylyn's Ridge looks like a completely custom community," Dirk Gunderson noted. "One of our most popular plans is The Ashton, which boasts a first-floor master bedroom. We also plan to introduce four additional designs in the next few months."

Kylyn's Ridge is attracting local buyers seeking a new home in Yorkville as well as shoppers from Aurora, Naperville and other communities along the I-88 corridor, said Pace.

"One of the community's strongest selling points is the highly acclaimed Yorkville school system, especially Yorkville High School in District #115," Pace added. "Kylyn's Ridge also includes three on-site parks and is just a short drive from Blackberry Oak golf course, the new Jewel supermarket and Menards store and several new restaurants that recently opened."

Buyers can select from 19 different ranch and two-story designs, each available in two to four elevations. Each design features three to four bedrooms, one-and-a-half to three-and-a-half baths, two-car garage (three-car garage optional), full basement, central air, tray or vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom (per plan), AristoKraft oak kitchen cabinets, Whirlpool appliances and up to 3,100 square feet. Base prices range from $200,900 to $281,900 (all prices subject to change without notice).

Kylyn's Ridge is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call (630) 553-1961.
